THE SHOUT OF A KING

By Tessa Harvey

Alice was greatly reassured to hear this. Then she said "Do you know I have been thinking of the story of the Prodigal Son, Luke chapter 15 in the Bible. You haven't explained exactly what happened about Ashley and I don't need to know. She sounds as though she is a wonderful sister. Just perhaps, though, like the elder brother she felt she had been faithful..."

"And I wasn't," Moira added. "Simon wasn't nice either. I see that now. I just went my own way, not God's."

The two women chatted for a while and, while Jasmine slept, Alice showed her the garden. Moira loved seeing how the plants and bulbs had changed, and resolved to have her own garden as soon as she could.

Declining Alice's offer of an overnight stay a little reluctantly, she gathered up her belongings preparing to leave.

Alice felt to add a loving word of warning: "Simon may truly want to change, dear, but he must have a lot of unresolved issues in his life. God does do miracles today. Nothing is impossible for God. Jesus cares about all the details of our lives.
It has taken me a lifetime to realise this. I pray you are a quicker learner than I am!"

Moira frowned. "Actually my parents have pleaded with me also not to go back too soon..." She paused, "and I have baby Jasmine to think about now. Ashley and Jack are concerned. I think I will listen this time."

The two women parted with warmth and affection, great friends despite their age difference, resolving to keep in touch.

Derek and Wendy had urged Alice to come and stay in their guest room, and she would do this.

Her own family were in touch, but lived vast distances away and worked very hard.

Now she had a family nearer home. It gave her new purpose in life as did her burgeoning relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
